2.5.2.2.1.1.3. Error "EAI_NONAME" in FileZilla
The error "EAI_NODATA - No address Associated with nodename" or "EAI_NONAME - Either nodename nor servname provided, or not known" is related to the inability to convert the FTP server's hostname into its IP address. As a result, the FTP client does not know where to connect, since it is impossible to locate the server without knowing its IP address.
Possible reasons
- Incorrect operation of the ISP's DNS server from the network from which the connection attempt is being made.
- A recent hosting service order, due to which the host name has not yet been updated on the DNS servers' side.
- Typographical error in the FTP server hostname.
Solution options
- Check your connection settings. Make sure that your FTP credentials are correct and that there are no extra spaces or other extraneous characters in the host address field.
- IP address instead of host. Determine the direct IP address of your hosting account (for example, using our "Ping" tool for the host address of the FTP server) and specify it instead of the host name when setting up the connection:

- Public DNS. It can also help to set up public DNS Cloudflare/Google.
