2.2.2. Hosting plans

A list of actual plans and their main characteristics can be found on the following pages:

To view information about the current hosting account plan, open the "Hosting" section and click on the plan name:

  1. One of the common myths is determining the plan based on the expected number of visitors. The difficulty lies in the fact that it is practically impossible to predict future traffic and the resources consumed by the site in advance. Instead, focus on the needs of your site, its functionality, and resource requirements. Although many hosting providers indicate the recommended number of visitors in their plan descriptions, this figure is only a guideline. Many factors influence the actual load, such as:
    • Site type: Simple business card sites usually consume fewer resources than online stores or forums with high traffic.
    • Used CMS: content management systems (WordPress, Joomla!) can generate additional load.
    • Plugins and scripts: Additional modules and functions can significantly increase resource consumption.
    • Script optimization: If a site's scripts are poorly optimized, resource consumption can be critical even with a small number of visitors (for example, a well-optimized online store can process tens of thousands of requests with minimal load, while a poorly optimized business card site can reach peak loads after just 100 users visit it).
    • User behavior: Simultaneous visits to the site by a large number of users, including scanning bots and other types of requests, can lead to peak loads.
  2. It is difficult to predict the exact load on the server before the site is actually hosted. Real load indicators can only be seen after the site becomes available online.
  3. In most cases, there is no need to choose the most expensive plan right away. It is recommended to start with the minimum acceptable plan and then upgrade it as needed.
  4. When choosing a plan, first pay attention to the following parameters:
    • Disk space: how much space you will need to store site files, images, databases, etc.
    • Number of sites: how many sites you want to host in one hosting account.
    • Limit memory_limit: limit on RAM consumption by each PHP script.
    • Available technologies: There are differences between virtual and business hosting plans in terms of restrictions and available technologies.
    • Available plan resources: this item is relevant when switching to business hosting, where certain resources are allocated to the hosting account without any time restrictions on consumption.
